A projectile struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which is the second attack on the airport in two days, leaving one person killed and 11 injured, which has stunned the whole nation. This incident happened on Sunday, causing a big fire in Hall No. 4, according to Saudi Arabia reports. The reports confirm that the person killed in the attack was a Pakistani citizen. Military officials are saying that they spotted a missile coming towards the airport, but on the other hand, the emergency teams said that it was the fire caused by an unknown object.
The first deadly attack happened on Saturday, 10th October, 2026, leaving 13 people dead and 308 injured, according to the official reports. The victims in the attack were several Saudi residents and students from other countries. These constant attacks have raised concerns regarding airport security and the safety of other passengers using the airport.
Reportedly, Yemen's Houthi movement has come forward to take the responsibility of the attacks, mentioning that ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones were used to attack Saudi Arabia. The passengers and the airlines have been warned by the Houthis to stop using the Saudi airport and airspaces, saying that all the airports in the country could be the potential targets except the ones in the cities of Mecca and Medina.
Furthermore, they have clearly mentioned that the reason behind the attack was Saudi Arabia supporting the government forces in Yemen’s civil war and air strike on Sanaa International Airport. On the other hand, Houthi-run Al Masiarah TV has reported that Saudi Arabia also launched air strikes on Sanaa airport and a residential property, leaving one child dead and six people injured. However, Saudi Arabian authorities have yet to confirm these reports, hence the information remains unverified.
This horrendous attack has created concern internationally, where US President Donald Trump mentioned that Washington is working on making a decision whether to strike the Houthis, and UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting suggested that Britain would provide further support to Saudi Arabia.
The continuous attacks have shaken the international relations by growing tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis. Iran has stretched its hands to help in sorting things out between Saudi Arabia and Houthi authorities. However, the airport security and safety are still under a big threat.
