Allegiant Air is cutting down its U.S. airport network, where flights to four different airports will stop operating in 2026. The affected airports are
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK)
Palm Springs International Airport (PSP)
Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE)
Apart from this, there are a few airports that are situated in California, in which Allegiant’s flight presence has been decreased.
According to the official reports, during the months of January and May 2026, Allegiant stopped operating its services at the airports. Allegiant’s network was considered to be a very crucial part for all those years for most of the airports.
California Loses Three Allegiant Destinations
California has experienced the biggest impact from the latest cuts, with three airports being removed from Allegiant’s network. Following these changes, the airline serves six airports in the state: Burbank, Fresno, Monterey, Orange County, Santa Maria, and Stockton.
The departure from Oakland is particularly notable for travelers in the San Francisco Bay Area, as Allegiant no longer serves the region through its own flights. The changes also follow the airline’s withdrawal from San Diego in September 2025.
The country that got affected the most by the removal of three airports from Allegiant’s network is California. After these new changes, now the airline only serves six airports in the state, and those are Burbank. Fresno, Monterey, Orange County, Santa Maria, and Stockton.
Los Angeles Airport Service Ends After 17 Years
Allegiant launched its LAX operations on May 1, 2009, with flights to Grand Junction, Colorado, and Medford, Oregon. Eleven additional markets were introduced that month, followed by 29 more routes over the years.
If we look at the official reports by Allegiant, they approximately carried 5.8 million passengers from 2009 to 2026, and the busiest routes were Bellingham and Washington; it was its busiest route, where all kinds of passengers used to come.
While things were going well on the international side, Allegiant could not fetch much traffic on LAX’s domestic side.
Columbia Airport Loses Allegiant Service Again
Flying from Columbia Metropolitan Airport denotes the last Allegiant flight from South Carolina. The airline started its operations in South Carolina between 2006 and 2009 before returning in the month of May 2025 with flights from Orlando Sanford. But all of this comeback only lasted just for one year.
All the DOT data mentioned in the reports shows that only 47.3% of Allegiant’s seats were filled.
Now the routes that Allegiant is covering are Charleston, Greenville-Spartanburg, and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.
What Travelers Should Know
Passengers now would have to choose a different route, airports, or airlines. They should make sure to check the flight schedules before making the booking since the services and flight fares differ from airline to airline.
The latest change in the airlines shows how the airlines adjust to the networks or new operations in order to meet the market demand.
